Good morning from Vancouver, BC Canada. I have an 81 Westfalia Vanagon that has electric power steering, which was fantastic when it worked! Recently, while my mechanic was replacing my ignition switch, my power steering stopped working. Did the component fail? If so, how can you tell? Or did the mechanic mess with the wiring and could that be the reason it's not working. Do these Power Steering units require any kind of maintenance? I've also noticed that over the last few months without power steering, there seems to be more battery strength. I normally have to keep my van plugged in, so it starts up. Was told I had a parasitic battery leak. Could this be coming from the Power Steering? -- Blessings! Kelly Manire 604-226-2416 |
