Hi,

Check the throttle body itself. It's a known problem that the shaft of the butterfly valve wears and then it's off center & catches, not closing fully. Look in the mouth of the throttle body and the wear should be visible.

Tapping the gas will sometimes let it slam shut.

It doesn't sound like this is your problem, since the idle goes back up after tapping the gas, but I thought it was worth mentioning.

Good luck!

Cheers, Steve W.

After a few minutes, the idle will build to 2500 rpm. The van runs well on the road, but whenever I pull up to a stop light the rpm's bump up to 2500. I can tap the gas and get it to drop to 1000 for a sec, but then it's right back up there at 2500... > > The AFM is fairly new and I pulled the rubber boot from it to the intake and there seems to be no cracks/air leaks. > Any thoughts on what to look for next? > > Thanks, > Jvk > > Sent from my mobile
