Hey jim, I installed a similar type pump in my van, replacing the in tank pump. The one I chose has integral pressure switch so if one wanted to, one could have a replacement faucet without electrical switch. The pump comes on when it senses pressure drop. Just like most rv and boats.

But I have the pump wired thru faucet.

The diaphragm pumps do make more noise than the impeller type pumps. I might try relocating my pump into a less resonating mounting surface.

In the past, I’ve had difficulty priming them following the winter drain/antifreeze/spring drain & refill. I went looking for a self priming pump. Its current consumption is a bit less than the rotary vane pump that it replaces and it’s about a third the price of said rotary pump. The only downside is that it’s a bit louder but I’m going deaf anyway so that’s no big deal. (I may insulate the ‘shelf’ that covers the pump to see if that helps.) > > If you have an early Westy that doesn’t have an in tank pump, this might be worth a look. > > Jim
