I've heard a large number of similar stories regarding rescue tape. Though I have never used it to repair vehicle coolant hoses (I do carry it in my camper just in case), I have used it for repairs of gardening hoses and irrigation lines. It has always failed, in some cases rather quickly. Perhaps I am doing something wrong, but I have followed the instructions very carefully.

BTW, I have looked at similar silicone tapes from big box stores and hardware stores. Unless it is "Rescue Tape" (trademarked) it is much thinner. I have never bought such tapes.
