This is a vague answer but it doesn't take a lot or heat to get the AAR valve mechanism to move. (I bench tested one once) But I think heat has to transfer from the engine case through the AAR body so how that translates to warm up time I don't know.

The AAR and later style throttle switch have the same type of connector. If work was done on any of those or related parts, it's possible they could be mixed up. (Thanks Dennis Haynes for that tip)
