Digijet (1.9l) and Digifant (2.1l) employ the same set of senders: air temp, coolant temp, air flow, closed-throttle/wide-open throttle, rpm/TDC** (plus oxygen sensor for closed-loop operation). I can't tell you offhand where the Temp-I (air) and Temp-II (coolant) terminology came from; it's been in use on the Vanagon list forever.

**Digijet uses the distributor signal to authorize the fuel pump; I don't know whether it takes engine rpm into account in its calculations. Digifant does this as well but also of course completely controls ignition timing based on the 5BTDC signal from the distributor.
