I think the “send a command to the list” approach - which was the ONLY way of interacting with a mailing list in the old days - is a vanishing breed, and therefore we’ll need to keep posting this kind of tip (perhaps every few months?).

I recently wanted to change the email address I associated with the list and even though I started on the internet in the 80s, and have used listservs (and even managed and installed a few on my own machines) for a long time, I had to search for the instructions. I, at least, knew that there was a trick to it and went looking. But many people from the current era just look for the ‘unsubscribe’ button.

I’m not suggesting we change the list management system, just pointing out why we get these questions from time to time.
