Hi,

Had the same issue when I replaced that panel with a home made version using 2024 aluminum. The panels was a smidgen thicker and of course less compliment and perhaps heavier.

The stock fasteners would not hold the panel. I panicked and put some 1/4-20 riv nut inserts into the door and the holes in the panel which were sized as the stock panel, were large enough to allow a little movement for 1/4-20 machine screws to make things fit. Cup washers under the head of the machine screws cover the holes in the panel. Worked like a charm, still have to cover the aluminum with fabric.
