Neil,

Good points. The AFM Carbon track is ( amazingly )good.

But the throttle switch. What a little bastard that is. I did rebuild the tb early on, rebushed, made new throttle plate, bored throat etc. The tb is tight and good. But the switch has always given me problems. Have swapped in a couple. And I did read that Samba thread at the time and re visited the switch. Seemed ok but I’m not discounting a bad solder joint in there.

But then again the issue hasn’t recurred since early summer. And you know I want to put I4 in the Syncro. Have two candidate blocks in garage, leaning to the 2.0 litre with 1.8 single cam head. So if the cap fix worked for me so far, that’s ok :-)
