I have had several Vanagons with the 2.1 L WBX in the last few years. At
one time or another I got the flikering oil light. In every case a switch
to the MobilONE 15-50 wt oil combined with a MANN oil filter solved the
problem. It think it has to do with spring pressure inside the filter. In
the last case, a brand new overhaul produced a red oil light at Idle. Had
new oil ( though not my preffered Mobil ONE 15-50 WT) and a new oil filter
( though nt my prefered MANN). Changed the filter and oil to preferrd type
and no more problems.
In one case I DID have to replace the pressure switch. No more problems
with the swich working. It was a bugger, though. Problems on getting the
right wrench for the job,
John
