It's interesting. The Mk3 automatic and manual transmission cars both have provision in the engine crank for a pilot bearing. Makes total sense though; why make two different cranks for the same engine? In terms of using that era car as an engine donor for a swap, it's a little deceiving in a Mk3 manual transmission car. (all? Some?) If I'm not mistaken, as installed in the Mk3, that transmission doesn't require a pilot bearing. At least I see no mention of it in any of my Bentley manuals.
