I too noticed the rusty propane tank skid plate. But I don't think it takes too much to cause the paint to start peeling off that thing. I had a new tank and plate installed on my '81 about 8 years ago. The skid plate paint started to peel relatively soon. But I put put some miles on that bus and it has seen some road salt and lots of dirt roads.

I think ocean air can take its' toll.
