Subject: Bentley found and list thanks,
Content-Type: text/plain; charset=utf-8

Hi folks,

Saturday I opened my mailbox and found a 1980 to 1991 Bentley manual with a kind note from a list member wishing me good travels. Though he is still on this list he doesn’t have a vanagon now and doesn’t expect to need the “vanagon Bible” going forward.

This is the latest item gifted to me with good wishes. I’ve been able to return the favor a few times to list members as well. Along with gifts I’ve received many hard to find parts at very reasonable prices from folks on this list. I actually enjoy the memory of the improvements to my van given to me. I could not keep my Vanagon going without the help of this list and the connections to amazing people that provide great advice, tips for care, and hard to locate parts.

From silly and small things like a vent cover for the driver’s side door jam, and covers for the arm rest bolts, to a go westie house battery set up with battery, , Also a replacement brown ashtray for my damaged one and not to mention the instruction at 3:00am in the morning on how to install anti squeal shims on front breaks!

I even have window crank extenders gifted to me by one of our vender’s employees who happened to take my call. They didn’t have any in stock but he didn’t need his. He took them off his van and dropped them in a envelope for me. I’ve tried really hard to give back and a few of my timely donations are on the road with folks.

My van is full of these stories and events.

So, thanks for my new complete Bentley with the kind wishes written on the cover. And, Thanks to all of you who have sent me parts, tips and advice, more then I can list here.

Do you folks remember talking me through installing 4 new shocks? or replacing the rear window wiper motor? Installing a new sink faucet? And so many more things I dared to do as a non mechanic blind vanagon owner?

Warmly,

Eric Caron 85 GL Auto Westfalia Currently getting some important care and maintenance.
