Here's an idea for avoiding this kind of stuff... I keep a roll of survey tape with my tools. Whenever I loosen some parts, I tie a bow on my steering wheel and I don't remove it till I've double-checked everything I undid... This is a way to avoid forgetting things due to interruptions and distractions.. I "remind" myself, when I remove the bow, to review whatever I've done...
