The pressure of the WBX "blue cap" is lower than the sedans' caps. Coolant system for the Vanagon seems more than adequate for my ABA 2 liter, despite it being a high performance, high compression hybrid. Very different characteristics from a boxer.. The oil does get hot, hauling a heavy boxy Vanagon rather than a little Rabbit, but the coolant stays cool, till you mix it with oil..grin. ...
