Old thread with a new twist. Someone mentioned that they had run the pump with different combinations of inlet and discharge filters; but...

Did anyone ever run the filter between the tank and the pump BACKWARDS? (not my doing)

What was good about the filter in backwards is that the large hole (intended to be the connection to the pump) facilitated me rinsing and vigorously shaking a bunch of crud out of the filter, sufficiently so that now the pump is back to comfortably quiet operation. (My nerve was rubbed raw last night by the buzzing pump that was so loud I could hear it above the noise of the driving rain.)

Now, a filter is NOT the same as your underwear in that you can't just flip it front to back and call it "good"; therefore:

QUESTION: What now? A. Install a new filter FOREWARDS (which means monkeying around with the hose diameter adapters)? B. Install a new filter BACKWARDS, same as I found it? C. Use a different filter?

Incidentally, the currently installed filter ("Made in Jordan") is the opaque cube filter listed by various vendors. An identical looking filter ("Hecho in Jordan") is available from a local supplier. Our vendors have some
