Thanks, Dennis…

This might be the price I’m paying for buying an used engine… It’s done great for the past 7 months, No incidents, coolant level and temp normal….. but now I see this….

It WAS leaking from that little hose and I repaired that early on- maybe the system wasn’t as healthy as I thought it was.

I’ll inspect for cracks, reseal cap nut and go from there…

Thanks!

It seems the 1.9L do this more often. My guess is that anytime the there is a cooling system problem the heads are not kept filled what gets exposed above the coolant level cracks from the sudden temp changes. The front drivers side is really prone as there is nothing forcing coolant or bleeding at that corner. The right side gets purged anytime a heater valve is open. This was a major fix in the 2.1L cooling system. > > Dennis > > -----Original Message----- > From: Vanagon Mailing List [mailto:vanagon@gerry.vanagon.com] On Behalf Of Dave Bohannan > Sent: Thursday, October 26, 2017 2:58 PM > To: vanagon@GERRY.VANAGON.COM > Subject: leaking cap nut? 1.9er > > Just like the subject says… > > Why am I leaking out of only one (that I can yet see) cap nut??
