Having taken a Split up the Dempster many years ago, there is still a substantial gap between being “able” to make the trip and the logistics of pulling it off. Even running 6-ply tyres, three spares were not too many on a shale road. Full bug-suites were a must at any petrol stop and bug screen inserts for the sliders in the doors proved a wise investment. The road to Tuk is purported to be more round-rock/gravel which should be easier on tyres, but not so easy on windscreens … and the bugs will be as plentiful.
