Guess they want to make sure it is not being used for business.

Could also be they are recognizing it as a camper and thinking it needs an RV policy. RV policies cover additional liabilities due to their use and additional risks they can represent. Adding the age of our vehicles increases some of that risk.

Hi Dennis,
I told esurance I'd be OK with no collision since I bought my camper without a lien. They still wanted pictures, a questionnaire, and still refused to take on just liability. Oddly, they covered my tin top for collision, comprehensive, and liability without question. I don't think they know what they're doing.

What customizations were you trying to get increased coverage for? While an agent or customer service rep may have offered the coverage change you may have gotten the attention as it went through the under writing process. If the issue was just the collision or comprehensive overage they could have just declined those coverages. For them to drop you indicates they do not want to take the liability risk.

A month ago I decided I should update my insurance carrier, Geico, about the customizations on my 85 westy. They agreed to increase the estimated value for a few additional dollars. Then I got a letter that they no longer considered my Westy insurable and are dropping coverage effective the end of the month, no further explanation given. I am now searching for other carriers. Just curious if anyone else has experienced this. Any suggestions for a new carrier are appreciated.
