If you buy a set of new tires from Discount Tires and pay extra for their 'free replacement' warranty, keep track of mileage and dates. If one of their new tires fails early and you try to collect under the warranty:

- don't let Discount push you into repairing the tire if you don't feel its warranted. Ask for a replacement. (mine had 2 holes, was run flat a short distance, they wanted to repair it) - there is fine print in the warranty regarding time periods etc. but beware that they might immediately suggest pro rating the new tire cost. The pro rating might not apply. - a minor point but since you're on a trip, if they say they'll call you when your tires arrive, don't rely on that. Call them.

The above could happen with any tire shop and I'm not saying all Discount Tire branches are bad. Mostly just a warning about how one might evoke the warranty they paid for.

Just my .02
