That's a good point about the rear heater pulling heat from the interior. Thanks for reinforcing my belief that it is not my thermostat, just that it's cold out there.

low double digits here in New England and I have noticed the Bus has a hard time maintaining heat to the interior. My temp gauge sits on the lower edge of the red light.

So not a thermostat problem. Splitting the bottom of the LED is about 90C with an OEM sender.

In my experience, the front heater is good for your feet and keeping the windshield clear. The rear heater is the one that controls the overall cabin temp in cold weather, even in front. It not only gets first crack at the hot coolant, it also is working with cabin air instead of air coming directly from outside, so it gets more than one pass.
