I have seen a flap get stuck wide open as well. Have had to flip it back.
Lightly sanded the inside of the air gateway until enough build up was
removed.
Also the connections can loose after time but the plug receptacle can be
removed easily and the connectors that touch the board can be pressed down
a little bit to give a bit more of a connection to the carbon board. I
also like taking a pink eraser and cleaning up the points on the carbon
board and the connector to clean up any oxidization. If you do this don't
play with the carbon strip that the main wiper swings back and forth on
because you don't want to wear that out.
