On a road trip, some years ago, I recall attempting to "fix" (lubricate) my NON submersible pump. It worked for a little while longer but failed soon enough. I have no idea if installing a pump under the sink is easily feasible for Westies with in tank pumps but the "Nautilus" Sureflo pump I installed in 2009 has been quite reliable for what it's worth.
