Ten years back or so, I was having a finicky digital clock; not all segments lighting up.  Disassembled to access the LCD and also the rubber "zebra strip" that makes the electrical connection with the PCB.  Cleaned all contact areas on all parts with a cotton swab and alcohol.  Perfecto.

I am sure it's the time travel that kills the digital clocks. You know,
designed in the 70s, made in the 80s, living through the Y2K glitch and
still being driven two decades into the next century. It's enough to drive
a clock crazy. My theory anyway.
