Bob, you don't have to go as far north as Vermont to find good maple sirip. Diane and I found Funks Grove Maple Sirip in Shirley IL while doing the RT. 66 etc. trip. They are the furthest south maple grove in the country and on the original RT. 66. If you are nice, they may let you drive through the back of the property on that original road. Make sure your good tires are on. We showed up on a Sunday when they were closed, but we talked to someone on the way to the barn and when he heard we were from the Great North he said stay right there. I'm going to get the key from Grandma and open up. Apparently, they wanted to show off their product to someone from maple country. We are from MA and know good maple syrup, most from NH and VT. and Funk Grove makes good maple sirip. Now, you may have noticed the different spellings of syrup. It seems back in the days of the original RT. 66, there were 2 ways to spell sirip. Syrup were concoctions made from corn syrup Sirip were things made from sap. Like maple sirip. Boy, the things one learns while on the road. Glad to pass that one on.

Lots of rain here in Tenn. remember those syrup days in Vermont when I was there in the 80s. Prepping the van for a southwest trip next month.
