Subject:      ECU Wire Corrosion relative to Length and Load (and?)

Hi folks. This is for OBD1 Motronic on an ABA engine swap but the question
might apply to the WBX O2 and ECU.

I was cutting back two corroded wires, hoping to find clean strands but
they're still corroded at 6" from the ECU connector. I don't have the means
to remove and replace them. One #16 wire connects from ECU to the O2 wire
shield then runs to ground (specifically the "Ground connection (shielding)
in engine compartment wiring harness"). The other wire, a #20, connects the
ECU to the same ground point. I don't know its' purpose.

I assume these wires carry very little current and voltage. If I connect
new wire to these, is the corrosion along such a short length of wire a
factor to worry about?
