Interesting to hear your results. I hope it works out long term. Different thing but FWIW, my fuel pump makes noise on and off and has done so for many thousands of miles. In my case, I'm pretty sure the sound is due to the early style tank having a narrower ID outlet. Later tanks have a larger ID outlet. Neil.
