While doing my engine swap, I installed a new fuel pump, fuel tank, all fuel hoses, filter, etc. Although the pump isn't noisy all the time, the noise was audible right after I got the swap running. I don't recall hearing it while the air cooled engine was still in but then the Jetta engine is much quieter at idle. I guess its possible the pick up tube/plate design of the tank is at fault. I don't know. I am curious why VW increased the ID of that outlet at tank. Was it only because VW eventually deleted the square pre pump filter from the design?
