Subject:      engine sounds like an diesel at idle

My 87 westy with 90k on an engine rebuild is either pinging or knocking at idle after it warms up.  It sound fine when I first start it and while driving at higher rpm.   No indication of low oil pressure.   Any suggestion appreciated.  Gary
