Subject: Progress, Puzzle on "Fuel pump won't work"
Content-Type: text/plain; charset="iso-8859-1"

Hi guys,

Interesting progress.

I posted a couple of days ago that on this 1990 van the fuel pump stopped working after I put in an other engine. The only electrical was involved; the wires wore disconnected on the starter, and the voltage regulator was changed to a new one. And I drove this van before.

There is no power on the fuel pump relay as it should be at all time while the key is out.

Now, I powered the fuel pump with a wire from the positive side of the battery and it worked without needing the ground, which it has already.

This way the engine could start up and work fine. The interesting part is, that if I remove that wire when the engine is running, it still works fine.

That is a puzzle for me.

Maybe some of you have experienced the same?

I hope, some guru can chime in with knowledge. I am terrible with electricals, dumbfounded, clueless most of the time.

All the fuses are good.

A probable question is; where it that wire come from that would power the fuel pump relay?

Is there anyone out there who can help? Please.

With love to all the Vanagone lovers, Zoltan
