So if I got it correctly, you have a no start and no fuel pump relay power at key on, but if you hot wire the fuel pump you have a engine start and after that engine start, when hot wire removed, engine runs correctly. If that's the case, it's really strange. Relay not working correctly?? Have you checked power at the relay as well as the fuel pump at key on? Any listees familiar with the operation of that relay and if it's a different circuit for start and run? > > Good luck and let us know what the heck is the fix. > Dave B. > > > > > > -----Original Message----- > From: thewestyman <zolo@FOXINTERNET.NET> > To: vanagon <vanagon@GERRY.VANAGON.COM> > Sent: Wed, Apr 18, 2018 4:49 pm > Subject: Re: Progress, Puzzle on "Fuel pump won't work" > > Mark, > > Thanks for the reply. > > What's happening; key on does not have power to fuel pump or the relay, nor > when I turn the engine. > That 1-2 second is not there. > > What to do? > Z > > > -----Original Message----- > From: vw_van_fan_Mark > Sent: Wednesday, April 18, 2018 11:28 AM > To: thewestyman ; vanagon@GERRY.VANAGON.COM > Subject: Re: Progress, Puzzle on "Fuel pump won't work" > > When you first turn on the key the fuel pump only runs 1-2 seconds and > then it stops.
