Is it possible you have a relay that is faulty? Maybe it stays on and then does not dis-engage when it is suppose to? And then sometimes doesn't engage when it is supposed to? Try swapping out relays just to do a quick check. You can jumper the relay socket to be sure the wiring is okay too.
