The Type 4 was used in the Porsche 911.
Believe it was the 912 which was a 4 cylinder...same as the 914.

Yes, but VW came out w/ a pancake engine in the early 60’s for their Type 3 cars such as Squarebacks, Notches, Fastbacks, etc.
