There is no need for a relay on the TDI starter adaptation. The 'Gowesty' / IMI starter failures are what led me to develop the prototype for this adaptor. Three failures of the IMI in 50K miles on a customer's van. I use one on my own automatic Westy, it's been perfect and many times fires off in less than one revolution of the engine. That's power and speed the IMI lacks. Replacement NEW starters are $85 should one ever be needed. I sell the adaptor + starter + plug, shipped in the USA for $190 total. Karl

I copied him so you have his information. Sometimes that solution will also need a relay to prevent the intermittent solenoid don’t engage issue, especially with the extra wiring for the automatic neutral safety switch. Depending on year the relay fix requires other corrections for the brake warning light and cruise control. So here I currently use the GoWesty Starter for 4 cylinder applications. I have had great success with those so far. > > Dennis
