Hi,
I noticed a bit of noise reduction with the tape, but as said, didn’t last long enough. Maybe there is a better tape available .
And I did make Delrin rollers similar to what is for sale. I think that’s a more productive way of quieting down the slider.
But I didn’t make Delrin rollers for the two little bearings that sit horizontal in the mid van sliding track. I have a feeling a lot of the door noise comes from them. Not much room in there to increase the roller diameter. I think I bought some bearings to try ( jeeze, is it 9 or 8 mm id there, can’t say without getting off my bum and going to workshop). But the Delrin sleeve over those bearings has to be pretty closely cut. I might get on it as I have to take door off for some body work.
The sliding door , both pre and post 85, is somewhat sensitive to the accumulated effect of many little faults in the components. Roller bearings, dirt, lack of lube, mis adjusted strikers and latches and actuating cable/rod. The post 85 mechanism is far superior in design ( i would almost go as far to say that it’s a deciding factor in van choice, :-) ).
And back to the Delrin rollers. I have this notion that a slightly softer plastic woukd be better. If like to try some polyurethane. Not so soft as to pick up grit, but softer than Delrin .
