Unless the tank is heavily pitted why worry about it? If it leaks it will just get a pin hole in it. I’ve seen dozens of tanks replaced that had nothing but light surface rust on them. Replace the valve, paint the tank and go on with your life. Would you replace the gas tank in your car, just because? The FLAPS guys love this, I’m painting mine and putting it right back in.
