Neil, you were wise. I did the same, though mine wasn't nearly as far gone as yours.

People speak of a "pin hole" as if that is a trivial matter. Propane is, duh, flammable. I have seen a vehicle (not a VW camper, but a van) on fire because of such a leak, when someone actually struck a match a few feet away. Things happen. I think another list member once posted about a fire he experienced with his van on a trip from Florida north to New York due to a tiny propane leak.

I don't need a fire, and I don't need to think that one is possible.
