OK... first and foremost *THANKS* to you all.... David, Jim, Stuart, Dennis, Jim and others.... too many to list.... *my temp gauge not working right problem is* *SOLVED ! ! !* as recap the thermostat housing on a syncro is aluminum (not plastic) and the sender has only one wire for data, the ground in on the body of the thermostat and the sender. today I check the voltage stabilizer -> it's good, I check voltage/ohm on the instrument cluster wide connector at pin and ground -> it's good - but then the gauge still not working.. aaargh - I cleaned the contact surface of the sender and the thermostat housing with a wire brush on a Dremel but still no deal... my son came over and says *"Dad... just give it up and put on a VDO temp gauge and call it done..."* *" yeah Nick I'm thinking about it but me let try this one last time..."* so using a wire a with an alligator clip on both ends - one end to the body of the sender the other end to the chassis... and bingo.. hallelujah... the needle of the coolant temp gauge raise to a bit over the light.... it's working now.... I have to see why it over the red light but I am happy and try t fugure how I would add extra ground on the sender body - problem s one more time.... *THANKS* to you all. dan |
