The controller triggers when it's an open circuit between the sender lead and ground.** Bad contact at sender, bad ground at sender, bad contact at connector T7a pin three (green wire going to blue/green; inside wiring box on the firewall; broken wire, bad contact on fuse/relay panel pin K5 (pinout on Bentley 97.68), bad contact at level controller, painted number 42 or 43, third socket in the upper row of the fuse/relay panel, broken solder inside level controller.
