I have one in my hand. I have a working temp gauge in my other hand (don't ask how I am typing). I am trying to figure out whey one gauge would be affected by a bad regulator and the other would not be. You might want to try another gauge. The 700Y just clips its two outer terminals into connectors on the foil. No soldering. Which raises the question, on a 33 year old car, maybe you should remove and clean the terminals first? Let me know what you end up needing.
