Actually they are M&S (Mud & Snow) rated, as per the sidewall. Not to say they'd remotely compare to a comparable quality dedicated snow tire, but they would do better than the Yoko's, Conti's, etc. that actually are summer-only. I use them myself in PA in mild winter weather, but no longer take my Westy out in severe snow/ice.
