I have a Burley hitch under the fiberglass bumper. I put a 2" ball mount and leave it there. Recently I parked my van on a supermarket parking lot, went in for groceries,, when I get out there 4 people looking at the rear of my van... - hi there folks - we are looking at your van and we hope that we didn't damage it - nope, looking fine to me - well we damaged our car...

I look at the front plastic bumper of their sedan and saw a crack and a big hole... they accidentally hit my van and the ball made a hole on theirs, no damage on my van.

This made me think I may bolt a wide iron bar on the ball mount to protect the whole rear of the van... just an idea.
