I bought a GoWesty water tank fill port (for some reason this part, including the factory version is called a "hookup" even though the factory version and most aftermarket ones don't actually hook up to anything), get this, in 2010. I also bought at the same time a water hose quick disconnect from GoWesty to use with their version of the "hookup." Their fill port actually does hook up to a water hose via the quick disconnect device. I probably used this combination fifty times or more since purchase.

Last week the quick disconnect wasn't so quick, in fact, it stuck to the port hard and fast. I ran to the hose bibb and shut off the water before overflow. Then I unscrewed the hose coupling from the quick disconnect, and carefully and repeatedly attempted to disconnect it from the port. Finally, after a large number of tries, it came apart, a spring and a plastic ball fell out.

I wrote an email to GoWesty just to let them know about the failed part, though I did not want any restitution for an eight year old inexpensive part. I just wanted them to know about the possibility of someone having a tank overflow because of this part. I told them both of those things.

The next day I got a phone call from a manager, who wanted to know if I wanted a new part, a refund, or GoWesty Bucks. I told him I wanted none of those things, I just wanted to let them know of this failure so that they might if they wanted to investigate and if this has happened multiple times, perhaps revamp.

The next day I got an email from him saying that he had added five dollars in GoWesty Bucks to my account for the failed part that had cost $4 originally.

All I could do was say, "Thank you."
