Don, you might think in terms of something shifting forward on downhills?  Could be causing strain on some wiring conn?  Coil loose in its bracket?  Something under back seat pushing on ECU?  Maybe jack up the back of the van and see if you can cause it to happen. Good luck and let us know what it was.
