Thank you Dennis

This starts to sound some what complicated in that I have the 93 Subi engine and the drive train / wheels are stock 87 VW

I do think that at my normal hi way speed of 65 MPH it could be geared a bit higher and perhaps a bit better gas milage … and I often skip 1st gear it is too low

My primary interest is being able to get a tire with the correct load factor for the heavy Camper while not spending any more than needed

And need to do it in the near future by the middle of December if we are going out over the holiday The current tires are showing crack lines on the face

Probably a more important consideration though for changing dimeter is the effect on braking. That said, for many carefully selecting a different diameter can be used for fine tuning engine RPM/Mile to better suit some needs. More importantly going to a different size wheel provides more options to get onto a modern tire design and enjoy some ride-handling capabilities that a properly set 4 wheel independent suspension can offer. > > Dennis > > > -----Original Message----- > From: Vanagon Mailing List [mailto:vanagon@gerry.vanagon.com] On Behalf Of Dan N > Sent: Saturday, October 27, 2018 7:35 PM > To: vanagon@GERRY.VANAGON.COM > Subject: Re: 16 inch wheels & tires > > what vanagon do you have? tintop or full camper? > > what engine do you have? are you aware of getting 16" rims and tires will tax on the power of your engine?
