Actually, I am as bad as you are. I put in the door pocket. BUT, I have been thinking of a place, easy to reach, to secure it. I was thinking Velcro, but don't know if it would hold in a violent crash. I have seen metal clips/brackets used, but wonder the same thing.

I have a seat belt cutter in a tray between the seats. Kind of dumb - if
the van turns over and I'm hanging upside down, the seat belt cutter might
be hard to locate. Where do you keep yours?
