Remember that if it is not an LT rated tire the load capacity must be reduced by 6% when installed on a light truck (which a Vanagon is considered), as per DOT safety standards. So a passenger car tire rated at 1609 lbs is considered a 1512 lb tire when mounted on a Vanagon. (If it were an LT tire it would carry the full 1609 lb rating when used on a light truck.)
