I believe I can get a repair panel for this from Europe for you.  Or you
could weld the groove with a welder, then grind it back down to smooth
again to fill the groove.  The door is pretty heavy and the metal of the
lower track is thick steel.  Putting lighter sheet metal on top isn't going
to hold up or work very well.
