Jim,

Yes it is.

There are a number of brands around. The material is something like pot metal and has a melting point below aluminum. It is not welding, but is like soldering or brazing. It wets aluminum, but does not alloy with it.

I've used the stuff for a lot of things from broken antenna elements to a cast aluminum lawn chair. The trick is not to get things too hot and melt the aluminum that you are trying to weld. I'd recommend practicing a while before doing an actual repair.

The lawn chair is a good example of how this stuff is to be treated like soldering, not welding. I first tinned the ragged broken ends of the cast aluminum part with the material. Then I clamped the two pieces together and heated them again until the material flowed. When the part cooled, it was thoroughly bonded.
