Hi Chris,

I just bought a pair of Lobro 944 CV joints from T3 Technique, along with some custom boots. They’re working well and T3 are pleasant to work with. My ride is a manual 88 tintop with Schwenk springs and a Subaru 2.2, and I drive it fairly aggressively at times. The lifting springs may be the reason our original joints died - evidently the races get used to a certain angle and when that angle is changed, they wear out sooner than they would have. The 944’s didn’t cost significantly more than good quality Vanagon CV’s would have done and according to discussions on The Samba, they’re better able to accommodate the longer travel.

I had been experiencing some wheel spin/slippage when peeling out for quite a while before the cank-ca-cank noise started, no problems now.

Good luck,

Steve Edwards
